How to Reach (Kashmir)
You may choose either of the three available ways of how to reach Kashmir. You may arrive at Srinagar by road, rail or air.
Flight:
You have several options of flying into the land of meadows from Delhi to Sheikh ul Alam Airport aka Srinagar Airport. As is always in case of plane bookings, try to book in advance to get affordable prices. It takes about one-hour in-flight time from Delhi to Srinagar. The view of the Himalayas makes your expenses worthwhile.
Train:
There is no direct train to Srinagar, presently. You can avail two options if you really wish to travel by train but it will mandatorily include few hours of road travel. The two routes to how to reach Kashmir are explained hereunder.
First: Take a train from Delhi to Jammu-tawi. This rail route will offer some breath-taking views. We would suggest this as a mode if you wish to include From Jammu take a bus or a rented vehicle to reach Srinagar covering 258 km, approximately.
Second: Take a train from anywhere to Udhampur Railway Station in Punjab. Once you reach Udhampur take a bus or van to Banihal railway station (5 hrs). From there you can take a local train to Srinagar (2 hrs). It is highly likely that the railway bridge over Jhelum will be opened soon to access Srinagar directly.
Road:
If you wish to take the road route to Srinagar, you have several options from Delhi (876 km), from Chandigarh (646 km), from Leh (424 km) and from Jammu (258 km) via Bus/Cab as preferred. You will experience some beautiful landscapes if you prefer this mode of transport. But, there is a huge chance that you get stuck in traffic as well.
