Introduction
Vietnam was historically ruled by the Chinese. Then, it was a French colony up until World War II. Although it became independent, the French stayed until 1953 and departed, not before dividing the country into two parts (dividing nations appears to be a colonial custom, e.g., India). According to some articles in the Ho Chi Minh city museum, due to extensive trade interest of America in South Vietnam, it became kind of an American colony after the French left. After the Vietnam war both parts were reunited in 1976. In 1986, it adopted free market economy.
